Suicide attacker drives car into Pakistani crowd
    Knoxville Times
    Monday 6th September, 2010

A bomber has caused multiple deaths in Pakistan, with another deadly suicide attack.

The attack in Lakki Marwat is the latest in a string of attacks in northwestern Pakistan, which is not far from tribal areas that are a stronghold of the Taliban.

At least 17 people were killed and 40 others wounded in the suicide blast, which occurred near a police station.

At least nine police officers are believed to be among the dead in the third such incident in the country within a week.

Police have confirmed the suicide attacker drove his bomb-laden vehicle into the back of the police post, which collapsed after the blast.

Many people had to be rescued from the debris.

Recent attacks by fighters linked to al-Qaeda and the Taliban has ended the lull in violence which was brought on by the massive floods in Pakistan.
