Ancient Islamic coins found in Germany
    Knoxville Times

    (IANS)

Eighty-two pieces of Islamic coins dating back 1,200 years were found in Germany, archaeologists said Monday.

Some coins made of pure silver and were minted in the 180th Hijri year, a German archeological mission said. The excavations were carried out in the Anklam city in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern province.

The find is a powerful testimony of the spread of trade and cultural ties between the Islamic world and Germany, it said.
